It’s an exciting time to be a procurement professional, so why not invest in yourself and achieve MCIPS? According to the CIPS Procurement & Supply Salary Guide 2025, in partnership with Hays, there are significant MCIPS advantages in all regions.
1. Boost your earnings
The guide data shows that procurement professionals with the MCIPS designation are likely to out-earn their non-MCIPS peers. They are also more sought after by employers.
Globally speaking, respondents with MCIPS earn 59% more on average. This is particularly pronounced in certain regions: in the Middle East and North Africa, for instance, respondents with MCIPS earn almost twice as much as those without the MCIPS designation.
And in the past 12 months, 70% of respondents with MCIPS received a salary increase, as opposed to 63% of their colleagues without MCIPS.
2. Put yourself in line for a bonus
On a global level, nearly two-thirds of professionals with MCIPS are eligible for a bonus. The overall figure shows them outstripping those without MCIPS in eligibility – in Asia, 86% of respondents with MCIPS report being eligible for a bonus, compared with 64% without. In the UK, 60% of respondents with MCIPS say they are eligible for a bonus versus 47% of non-MCIPS.
3. Stand out from the crowd
While only 26% of CIPS Procurement & Supply Salary Guide 2025 respondents currently have the MCIPS designation, more than half of employers surveyed said they look for MCIPS when hiring procurement and supply professionals. Therefore, by studying towards and achieving the MCIPS designation, you can indicate you have something special to offer by virtue of your dedication to your career.
4. Be a safe pair of hands
Part of the reason MCIPS is attracting more and more attention from employers is that industry in general, and the procurement and supply profession specifically, are bracing for a period of accelerated and dramatic change. With all the transformations promised by technologies including AI, and the global supply chain instability caused by tariffs and conflict, identifying professionals who have invested in their own development to stay the course in their careers will be top of many employers’ agendas.
5. Join a growing trend
The salary survey showed that the value of MCIPS is only expected to grow, and fast, with 74% of respondents saying they expect procurement and supply chain designations to become more valued over the next decade.
Indeed, they expect procurement’s profile to keep rising until it’s shoulder-to-shoulder with fields such as accountancy. To be an MCIPS professional is to signal you belong in the same bracket.
