Having MCIPS status enables procurement and supply professionals to get ahead today while futureproofing their careers for tomorrow. According to the CIPS Procurement & Supply Salary Guide 2025, in partnership with Hays, MCIPS are likely to out-earn their non-MCIPS peers. They are also more sought after by employers.
Around the world, professionals with MCIPS earn significantly more than those without. Globally, those with MCIPS earn 59% more than non-MCIPS on average, although there are notable variations between regions. In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), MCIPS earn almost twice as much as their non-MCIPS peers.

Likelihood of a pay rise
In most regions, procurement and supply professionals with the MCIPS designation are more likely than their non-MCIPS peers to get a pay rise. In certain regions – including Asia, MENA, South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa – they are also far more likely than their non-MCIPS peers to have received a salary increase over the past 12 months.

Bonus opportunities
As well as being more likely to have benefited from a salary increase over the past 12 months, procurement and supply professionals with MCIPS status are more likely to be eligible for a bonus.
Globally, 59% of MCIPS are entitled to a bonus, compared with 51% of non-MCIPS. Bonus eligibility for MCIPS is considerably greater in Asia, MENA and the UK. In Asia, for example, 86% of MCIPS report being eligible for a bonus, compared with 64% of non-MCIPS. In the UK, 60% of MCIPS say they are eligible for a bonus versus 47% of non-MCIPS.

Stand out from the crowd
Skilled procurement and supply professionals are sought after by employers because of the vital role they play in supporting efficient, cost-effective operations that deliver high-quality goods and services. Furthermore, they help to limit the risks faced by organisations in relation to procurement and supply.
Being MCIPS demonstrates that a professional has achieved the globally recognised standard of excellence in the procurement and supply profession. It also shows that they’re dedicated to their career, to ethical standards of practice and to operating with integrity.
For these reasons, over half of employers globally (52%) will request MCIPS or studying towards when recruiting for procurement and supply professionals. Employers in MENA, South Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and the UK are particularly likely to prioritise MCIPS when hiring.

Value of MCIPS
The value of gaining procurement and supply qualifications, as well as MCIPS, is underlined by the workplace changes that people expect to see over the next 10 years. Globally, the majority of survey respondents (74%) believe that procurement and supply chain qualifications will become more valued. Furthermore, 60% believe that procurement and supply will enjoy professional status, similar to accountancy.

Over a quarter of respondents globally already hold MCIPS status (26%) while a further 40% are studying and working towards MCIPS.
