About the research

A total of 5,786 procurement and supply professionals from around the world contributed to the CIPS Procurement & Supply Salary Guide 2025. They completed a web survey that was in the field from 20 January 2025 until 14 March 2025, sharing their insights on a range of topics from salaries and bonuses through to skills, career mobility and perceptions of the procurement and supply profession.

Statistically valid responses were gathered from seven key regions: Asia; Australia and New Zealand; Europe (excluding the UK); the Middle East and North Africa (MENA); South Africa; Sub-Saharan Africa; and the UK.

Respondents were grouped into our different job levels according to their job title:

Influencing – Strategic, with a significant level of complexity and challenge. Example job titles include: chief procurement officer, commercial director, head of procurement, procurement consultant, procurement director, operations director and supply chain director.

Leading – Complex, with challenging requirements. Example job titles include: commercial manager, head of operations, operations manager, senior category manager, strategic procurement manager and supply chain manager.

Managing – Managerial, with some complexity. Example job titles include: category manager, contracts manager, procurement manager, purchasing manager, senior buyer, sourcing manager and supplier relationship manager.

Delivering – Operational/tactical, focused on day-to-day activities. Example job titles include: assistant procurement officer, assistant contracts officer, buyer, category officer, graduate buyer, graduate trainee, procurement analyst, procurement assistant, procurement officer, purchasing assistant, purchasing officer and supply chain planner.

Globally, 16% of respondents are Influencing level, 14% are Leading level, 27% are Managing level and 36% are Delivering level. (In total, 93% of respondents are classified by level based on their job description, while 7% are unclassified because they selected ‘Other’ for their job description.)
